Investment in flow line keeps process in UK
10th November 2015

Hardware manufacturer COTSWOLD ARCHITECTURAL PRODUCTS, part of the Caldwell Group, has invested £170,000 in the automation of a flow-line, choosing to do this part of the production process in-house rather than outsource to another country.

Alongside keeping and creating more skilled manufacturing jobs at its production base, the move will also increase Cotswold’s productivity and allow it to increase capacity by 15 per cent.

It is the first step to introducing more automation onto the factory floor; and to one day potentially introducing a fully automated factory. The move also means that Cotswold is investing in the UK and continuing to create a strong British based production facility.

Sales and Marketing Director Tim Ferkin (pictured) said: “This latest capital investment means we can offer our customers an even better service and remain at the very cutting edge of hardware manufacturing. It also ensures we keep high-skilled jobs in the UK and continue to invest to be the best.”

“This new machinery and factory re-fit will make our service even better, and lead times even faster for our customers. Because we will be able to do more; our customers will be able to do more and we will continue to push the boundaries of lean manufacturing and product development.”

Since the company was acquired by the Caldwell Group in early 2014, it has embarked on an investment programme which has seen a factory shake-up; as well as the introduction of thousands of new hardware products.
