Double excellence in Lanarkshire

Window, door and building envelope contractor CMS has been formally recognised for its contribution to the regional and national economy by picking up two trophies at the Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards 2015.

The Castlecary-based company won the ‘Best Business Award (51 employees and over)’ and the ‘Best Green Business Award’ at a prestigious ceremony last week at the Motherwell Concert Hall, fighting off stiff competition from other pioneering regional businesses across a range of industry sectors.

The awards, which celebrate the quality, success and achievements of the Lanarkshire business community, tops a remarkable 12 months for CMS, during which time it has grown its turnover by 33%, secured several major contracts with some of Scotland’s largest social housing providers and main contractors and has created a sustainable building showcase with the opening of its Innovation Hub.

In addition to the ‘Best Business Award’, the ‘Best Green Business Award’ reflects the company’s comprehensive operational and product sustainability, which means CMS recycles virtually all its waste, uses renewable energy to power its premises and supplies products which are instrumental in delivering energy efficient homes and buildings across Scotland and the UK.

MD Andy Kerr said: “With such a buoyant business community in Lanarkshire and so many enterprising firms, it is a tremendous achievement for us to win these two awards this year. More than anything, it is testament to the enormous effort that every member of our team – including our 15 apprentices – puts in on a daily basis to make CMS the business it is today.”

CMS works with local authorities, social housing providers, housebuilders and building contractors across the UK employing 195 people at its 15-acre HQ and manufacturing base north of Cumbernauld.
