Solaglas Rejoins the GGF
Nigel Rees, GGF Chief Executive announced that after an absence of ten years, Solaglas has rejoined the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF). In addition to Solaglas' renewed membership, Saint-Gobain Glass UK, Vetrotech, and Swisspacer have taken up membership for the first time, in order to optimise the benefits, opportunities and contributions for all of Saint-Gobain's glass-related activities in the UK.
The integration of these four entities into the GGF will be managed by Brian Baker – Director for Special Projects. Saint-Gobain's level of commitment to GGF membership can be best measured by the fact that Brian's role is almost entirely dedicated to GGF-related activities.
"I am absolutely delighted that once again we will be actively participating in the GGF" says Brian. "There is no doubt in my mind that Solaglas has missed opportunities due to our absence from the GGF. Our membership will help raise the profile of our Group and products in the wider market, and also enable us to have a positive influence as the glass industry moves forward, with environmental issues being very high on our agenda".
"We have rejoined not only for the benefits that can be gained from the GGF, but also for the significant contributions we feel we can make to the development of the Glass and Glazing Industry as a whole. The environmental challenges that we all face will be much easier for us to deal with by being part of such an effective and influential organisation as the GGF".
Brian Baker has been in the glass industry for over twenty-nine years, and has experience in most aspects of glass and glazing, having worked in a number of Solaglas branches and divisions during this period.
During Solaglas' last tenure as a member of the GGF, Brian was actively involved in Standards, and also acted as chairman for the Laminators Group.
Nigel Rees welcomed the return of Solaglas, " We are delighted to have such a major player back in the fold working with us and look forward to many years of cooperation. This helps to strengthen the voice of the Federation and shows how crucial it is to be involved in a trade association particularly in these difficult economic times. The GGF can enable you to stay ahead of the competition and provides real value for money"
