HIGHLAND FLING FOR PN WITH GROUPCO

Groupco is supplying window hardware from Peder Nielsen’s innovative PN System for 4,000 new energy efficient windows, specified for social housing stock in Inverness by the Highland Council. PN UNI top swing hinges have been selected to complement the fully reversible aluminium composite windows being fabricated and installed for the refurbishment project by Norscot Joinery Limited in Wick.

The Council’s phased modernisation programme covers a wide range of properties, from multi-storey blocks to bungalows. AM Profiles’ ALARBOND system has been chosen for the replacement windows, and Norscot is fabricating the windows in a redwood timber internal finish with a durable white powder coat for the aluminium outer frame to match the colour and style of the existing windows.

Combined with the PN UNI hinge, the new reversible windows satisfy emergency egress regulations and can be cleaned and maintained from the inside – a particular benefit for windows in high-rise flats. The PN UNI hinge also features a built-in safety restrictor, so that when opening the window it stops and locks automatically in the vent position. Norscot’s MD, Ian Body, comments, “The PN UNI System was the obvious choice for this contract because it offers the only recognised solution for fully reversible top swing windows and the fittings are easy to fit and very reliable in use.”
