A SPARKLING PERFORMANCE BY BEAUFORT AND MWG
A brand new four-star hotel on the Isle of Wight is proving a shining example for high-performance, sustainable aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling supplied by Beaufort Secure Design and Midland Window Group.
Designed, manufactured and installed by commercial sector specialists MWG, one of Beaufort’s largest customers, the external aluminium glazing systems totalling £300,000 fulfilled the demanding specification for the prestigious Lakeside Hotel at Ryde, which features an impressive eight-metre high entrance conservatory and covered walkway.
Working to a tight four-month schedule, MWG fabricated frames for the curtain walling and a further 100 reversible windows using the TRS system which is part of Beaufort’s acclaimed Advanced Plus ‘A’ Window Energy Rated (WER) aluminium system. The company also supplied 17 exterior ground floor doors, including two automated front entrance doors at the 65-bed hotel.
Aluminium’s low maintenance, coupled with superior energy efficiency and weather performance make it the ideal fenestration choice for the harsher coastal climate. Additionally, all frames were given a white polyester powder coated paint finish to a depth of 80-microns for added protection against the elements, backed by Beaufort’s 25-year marine guarantee.
Superb technical support from Beaufort assisted MWG in delivering the more challenging design aspects of the project, such as the spectacular sloping conservatory roof, according to Director Manj Sanghera.

Over the past four years, MWG has achieved phenomenal business growth and ongoing expansion prompted a move to its current new £1 million premises near Coventry in 2007. Recognising the future potential for aluminium, the company signed up with Beaufort last year and plans to open a substantial new facility dedicated to aluminium fabrication in 2009 to capitalise on this growth.

All window sections feature a polyamide thermal barrier to enhance thermal efficiency, making the system easily capable of achieving a 1.3 w/m2K overall window U-value. This qualifies for Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes Directive that is widely in demand by specifiers, thus opening fresh opportunities for fabricators like MWG.
