Installer denies taunting cat-lover who sued him over ‘unsafe’ conservatory
9th July 2019

A conservatory installer has found himself in the media spotlight after he denied taunting a cat-loving customer by renaming his business Katlady Services after she had sued him for £20,000 over a botched installation.

Paul Anderson, who ran Ancrum Windows Ltd in Dundee had been ordered to pay Caron Scrimgeour for the job, which was described by an expert as “the poorest I’ve seen in 30 years” and had to be completed by another contractor.

But local press say he then scrapped the business and renamed the company but claimed the new name was ‘just a family thing’ and not related to the homeowner.

Ms Scrimgeour told reporters: “When I saw he changed the name to Katlady Services I couldn’t believe it.
“After taking him to court and winning he shuts up shop and mocks me by renaming the firm. On the very same day he registers a new business and carries on as if it never happened. His arrogance and ignorance is absolutely appalling.”

Building consultant David McNutt who assessed the work said: “Not only is it not fit for purpose, it is unsafe and needs to be taken down.”

Mr Anderson is now reported to run two new businesses – Ancrum Windows and Doors, and Ancrum Glazing.
