Safety glass laminate ‘100 times more rigid’
9th February 2016

AGC has introduced Stratobel Strong, a new laminated safety glass offering strength combined with a neutral appearance.

Incorporating a PVB film said to be is 100 times more rigid than standard plastic films usually used in conventional safety glazing, Stratobel Strong’s mechanical properties give it a higher load capacity which, under certain conditions, means toughening may no longer be necessary. The thickness of the glass can also be reduced, resulting in a thinner, lighter assembly. In addition, Stratobel Strong offers lower glass deflection under load, whereby the laminated glass remains in place even when broken, ensuring safety and security for people and property.

Developed exclusively for AGC, the special PVB film offers a neutral appearance which does not alter the colour of the glass in any way. Its adhesion to the glass significantly reduces its sensitivity to moisture and limits the risk of delamination, and it is compatible with a wide range of sealants and adhesives.

Stratobel Strong is available in a range of thicknesses and in large dimensions up to 321 cm x 600 cm. It can be combined with clear, coloured or coated glass, or highly transparent low-iron glass, and can be processed in all the same ways as other laminated glass products.
