New system to simplify Part Q compliance

A new system to help timber window and door manufacturers meet Part Q compliance has been launched by external timber door and window hardware specialist the COASTAL GROUP.

The  system enables firms to use Coastal’s own generic Part Q certified products to manufacture officially UKAS tested and certified doors and windows in line with PAS24 without having to pay to have their own windows and doors tested.

It includes a Compliance Guide Manual, provision of a certificate per product type and window stickers to enable building inspectors to quickly and effectively see that the windows and doors supplied are Part Q compliant.

Director Loren Jenner said “Part Q has been a hot topic of debate across the industry and discussions with our customers highlighted they would have to pay thousands for their own products to be certified which is a massive and potentially crippling financial burden for them to face.

“The beauty of our Part Q system is that it lifts that financial and administrative pressure, enabling firms to manufacture Part Q compliant windows and doors using our certification scheme. By working to the sections and components set out in our Compliance Guide Manual for each product, customers will ensure they are creating Part Q compliant products without having to pay thousands.

 “Anyone wanting to use the Part Q certification system simply needs to go through a straightforward four step application process with us, pay the one off £79 charge per product and that’s it. Once approved we provide them with everything they need to be Part Q compliant. We have only just launched the scheme but already there has been a great deal of interest.”
