CENSolutions Statement on Damages Received
8th May 2012

“It came to our attention recently that the CENSolutions’ BS EN 14351 Factory Production Control Manual, written by the CENSolutions team, was being copied and distributed by Certass Ltd. We sought legal advice and the situation has now been resolved with CENSolutions Ltd receiving over £40,000 in damages and legal costs from a copyright infringement claim against Certass Ltd. Certass plagiarised CENSolutions' Factory Production Control Manual for PVC-U Windows and Doors and distributed the knock-offs. Certass eventually admitted this unlawful copying declaring that it had, in fact, never challenged CENSolutions' claims. CENSolutions' lawyer, Dr Michael Servian of Freeth Cartwright, comments: “No attempt was even made to disguise the copying, Certass simply cut and pasted entire passages of CENSolutions' work into the Certass version.” As well as paying damages and reimbursing CENSolutions' legal costs Certass has undertaken not to make or distribute any further copies of the knock-offs.

“We’re disappointed with the way Certass has conducted itself in its unlawful copying of what we believe is a first class Factory Production Control Manual, but ultimately we’re pleased that the copyright infringement has been recognised and addressed.”

Wayne Rogerson, Mike Gaillard, Joint Managing Directors of CENSolutions Ltd
