Property listings down again
8th August 2017
Estate agent property listings have fallen for the second consecutive month since the General Election, down 1.6% in July after a drop of 1.9% in June, according to the latest Property Supply Index compiled by HouseSimple.com.
Sellers held off putting their properties on the market before the Genetral Election, but the psot-election rush never happened as a narrow Tory victory combined with Brexit fears and cooling prices has left sellers in limbo.
Ironically, of the 100 towns and cities analysed, more areas actually saw an increase in property supply in July compared to June, even though supply was down across the UK as a whole. Biggest drops were Newquay (30%) and King’s Lynn (25.6%), while Dundee saw listings almost double in July, up96.9%.
Another oddity from the figures is that listings inTruro were up 55.2% even though it is less than 30 minutes away from Newquay.
