Windows help transform Library
8th April 2014

Kirkintilloch Library in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire had nearly 180 ageing aluminium tilt and turn windows, therefore East Dunbartonshire Council awarded the contract to replace the windows to CMS Window Systems. The company was awarded the work because it has a Framework agreement with the local authority and had already proved its credentials on projects of this scale.

The windows chosen for the refurbishment were from Sheerframe, which is part of the Litchfield Group. With a U value of just 1.3 W/m² and manufactured using 100% lead-free PVC and calcium stabilisers, the company’s 8000 series window offered the industry-leading thermal performance and energy efficiency credentials that the council needed to reduce its environmental footprint and energy overheads. The Council opted for the moss green foiled profiles colour to create a harmonious and unobtrusive look.

The end result has transformed the look of the library as well as its energy efficiency. Gary Doxey, Sheerframe’s Marketing Manager says, “It is always very rewarding seeing our windows being used on flagship projects such as this one. We are delighted that our windows will be enhancing the library experience of Kirkintilloch’s residents.” Antonio Pontiero, Senior Sales and Marketing Manager at CMS Window Systems Ltd added, “We are proud of our ongoing partnership with East Dunbartonshire Council and the opportunities it gives us to work on projects that enhance community life.”
