ANNUAL REPORT SHOWS STABILITY IN TOUGH TIMES
7th October 2014

The Glass and Glazing Federation has released its Annual Report for 2013 showing a financially stable position against the tough economic conditions in the period.

GGF President, Brian Baker of Glassolutions Saint Gobain stated, “2013 was a difficult year for the industry but the GGF Membership remained stable and continued to provide a high level of support for Members.”

Nigel Rees, GGF Group Chief Executive commented, “The Federation’s Membership yet again stood up well to the trading pressures they faced in 2013. It is also particularly pleasing to see that the number of new Members joining the Federation increased from 23 in 2012 to 32 in 2013 (39%) and this year we are on course to show another recruitment increase on 2013. It is clear that our retention and acquisition strategies are working effectively as more and more companies realise the benefits of being part of the GGF.”
In the political arena during 2013, the GGF continued its dialogue with Government on several campaigns such as Cut the VAT, Consumer Rights and Fire Safety. During the period, the Federation was also highly proactive as the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and CE marking became law with many companies in the industry having to comply.

The Annual Report reflects the Federation’s hard work on technical, political and legislative issues and shows outstanding online results from strong marketing and communications strategies, including a 24% increase (97,500) visitors, viewing the GGF website www.ggf.org.uk and a 15% increase in page views (457,500).

The Report also highlights how the Federation is improving Members’ benefits, and in particular the growing number of online benefits. In addition, the Report details the strong relationships the GGF is developing with Trading Standards and outlines the Federation’s progress in the Trading Standards Consumer Code of Approval Scheme. The Report also highlights the success of the GGF’s Conciliation Scheme and how it helped Members resolve disputes with consumers.
Nigel Rees concluded, “Our solid work for our Members and with our Members clearly shows the Federation is on the right track. There are many challenges facing the industry but working together we can not only cope with the pressures but also grow. I thank all Members for their much valued input and continued support.”

All GGF Members were posted a printed copy of the Annual Report, a digital version is available for download from the GGF website. www.ggf.org.uk/publication/ggf_annual_report_2014

In a few weeks, the GGF will be publishing a special edition of its Members’ magazine GLASSi which will include exclusive images and delegates’ feedback and links to all the presentations from Members’ Day 2014.
