More light for mill conversion
7th June 2016

Two industrial buildings of historical value in Helmshore village, Lancashire - The Power Mill and The Loom - are being redeveloped into 42 contemporary apartments including AURORA Roof Windows from LB Supplies.

Preserving the external appearance of the buildings, while allowing enough natural light in to comply with the recommended lux levels is always one of the main challenges in conversion projects, as Siobhan Molloy of developer Molloy Hale explained: “Listed buildings make for incredibly attractive redevelopments, but one has to be very creative in finding solutions to adapt the space for modern requirements. Roof windows and skylights can dramatically improve the quality of such a dwelling, increasing its market value and making it very desirable for the end consumer.

“After doing our research, we came across the Aurora Roof Window and ordered a sample online, from LB Supplies. We thought it was a brilliant product and have now installed over 80 Aurora Roof Windows in our mill conversion project.
Following the successful installation, Molloy Hale has decided it will also use the Aurora Roof Window for future new-build and refurbishment projects.
