Investment for BIM-ready

Building envelope contractor CMS has invested more than £50,000 to support architects and main contractors in the digital building revolution by becoming BIM (Building Information Modelling) ready.

Heading the design team and BIM processes at CMS is newly-appointed technical manager Gordon Moffat who has been working on BIM projects for a large consultant engineer for several years.

 Gordon says: “BIM is no longer a ‘nice to have’ – legislation has fixed deadlines for BIM to become the standard approach given collaborative working and consistency benefits that it brings. CMS is once again ahead of the curve recognising that a BIM-enabled supply chain is crucial for main contractors to deliver optimum results on BIM projects.”

 CMS is already liaising with main contractors and local authorities to outline a robust BIM strategy, ensuring their new hardware and software is successfully deployed for building envelope solutions. This includes aluminium curtain walling facades, doors and windows for buildings in the education and public buildings sectors.
