Fire-Resistant Glazing Guide relaunched

The Glass and Glazing Federation has re-launched The Guide to Best Practice in the Specification and Use of Fire-Resistant Glazed Systems Edition 3.

It is almost five years since the best practice guide was published and the GGF’s Fire- Resistant Glazing Group (FRGG) decided it needed a more comprehensive guide to assist in the specification, testing and use of fire-resistant glazed systems to match the increasing use of specialist glasses within the building environment.

Kevin Hulin, chairman of the FRGG said: “Our intention was and still remains, to provide information to the entire construction industry of the need for correctly specified, tested and installed fire-resistant glazed systems.”

Since its original publication over 5,000 hard copies have been distributed and many visitors to the GGF website have downloaded the guide. This third edition has expanded to reflect the changes in fire safety legislation and to keep pace with the constant product development in this diverse and specialist sector.

The new guide has been published in collaboration with a broad cross section of individuals and companies that engage in testing, manufacture, supply and installation of fire-resistant glazed components. It is anticipated the new guide will be the touchstone for all companies manufacturing or installing fire resistant glass or glazing.
