Sarah’s off on Inca-redible Macmillan fundraiser
5th May 2015

BALLS2 MARKETING Communications Director Sarah Ball and her daughter Stephanie will be setting off on Saturday to trek the Inca Trail in Peru to raise money for Macmillan.

The 28 mile hike, reaching altitudes of up to 4,200m, through the lush cloud forests of the Andes will bring them to finish at the mysterious lost Inca city, Macchu Pichu.

It’s all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, the charity which gives practical support to people living with cancer. Both Sarah and Stephanie know just how important that is as four of Stephanie’s friends have all been diagnosed with the same cancer, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma over the last eight years.

“When Stephanie suggested doing something to raise money to support her friends, I had to help,” said Sarah, “I’ve always wanted to do the Inca Trail and raising money for Macmillan at the same time will make it so much more rewarding.”

The two have already raised £5,000 of their target amount of £8,000 through bucket collections, a Christmas raffle, a fundraising gig and donations from friends and family, but there’s still a way to go.

“We’ve been organising all sorts of money-raising events since we decided to do the trek and we’ve done really well. Now we’re looking for sponsorship for doing the actual trek so that we can hit our target of £8,000.”
