EMPLAS, in partnership with Pilkington and new build window installer Portico, has supplied IGU units with a 0.9W/m2K U Value into The Highbanks in Southend-on-Sea.
It includes the redevelopment of Essex House, a 12-storey landmark former office development into 75 exclusive apartments and a five storey, 22-apartment new build development. Portico was appointed by Weston Homes to supply 86 windows and 24 patio doors into the new build element of the scheme, with a requirement for an overall installed unit value of 1.2W/m2K.
Jason Campbell, Commercial Manager, Portico, said: “Highbanks is a high-end development, with the new build site featuring a combination of traditional brickwork and zinc cladding in a five-storey elevation. Weston Homes set a high performance window and door specification with an installed frame U-Value of just 1.2W/m2K. This was achieved by Emplas as our window and door supplier using a unit from Pilkington with a U-Value of just 0.9W/m2K.”
These feature a Pilkington 4mm Optitherm S1 Plus, argon filled unit, with 16mm black Swiss Spacer and 4mm KOW Surface 4 and TUF coatings where required.
Ryan Johnson, Managing Director, Emplas said that the solution reflected the established partnership Emplas now enjoyed with Pilkington, adding that its manufacture of Profile 22’s new Optima system, extended the fabricator’s energy efficient window and door range still further.
