London’s Tower Bridge, with an 11metre glass floor giving spectacular views of the Thames and the city beyond, has been pronounced winner of the GGF’s MyGlazing.com Window with a View competition.
The walkway, which beat a shortlist of 11 including The Lighthouse, Glasgow, and Emirates Spinnaker in Portsmouth, “has not just made for a stunning image of glass architecture but it is also a great advert for the performance of laminated glass.” according to James Lee, GGF group director of marketing and communications, who presented the award.
Since February, people working in and visiting tourist attractions and public buildings had been encouraged to submit photos of their favourite views through windows across the UK on MyGlazing.com.
A judging panel of industry experts from the worlds of architecture, tourism, photography and art then selected the four best views from each region, which went on to a final public vote to find the overall winner.
