£40m ‘super-school’
4th October 2016

Swansea-based aluminium manufacturing and installation company AB GLASS played a role in the development of Ysgol Bae Baglan, dubbed as the £40 million ‘super school', with a £2 million contract to supply windows, doors and curtain walling.

The installation included various products, such as thermally broken curtain wall screens, thermally broken top hung windows, thermally broken doors, and non-thermally broken heavy duty doors. Steel-framed 30-minute fire rated doors and curtain walling were also installed.

Alan Brayley, managing director at AB Glass, said: "The design of the school was important to us and we included the feature courtyard screens to have a number of different multi-coloured glazing, which was perfect for the school and gave it a vibrant effect for the children. The multiple aluminium products installed are top quality so that the school will have many years of reliable use.

"The project was handed over to the local council three weeks early and the AB Glass team played its part in achieving the completed works to an extremely high standard."

AB Glass has been involved with many education-based projects over the years, including: Penyrheol School, Swansea; Ynysboeth Community Primary, Mountain Ash; UWIC Hub, Cardiff; Birdwell School, Long Ashton, Bristol; Fusion 1, Bournemouth University; and Brougham Hayes Student Accommodation, Bath.
