Software success

The number of aluminium fabricators using First Degree Systems’ (FDS) newly launched manufacturing and business management software programme has sharply increased over the last month according to sales and marketing director Alan Bark.

Window Designer 7(WD7) enables fabricators to manufacture windows, doors and curtain walling systems more efficiently, First Degree Systems claimed, and it has gained a strong following in the aluminium sector.

“Since the launch of WD7 we have seen a big increase in the number of aluminium fabricators using FDS software,” Alan said. ‘WD7 allows companies to manage their entire work flow, from the estimating stage through to invoice in one seamless process, while the advanced CRM functionality makes the system easier than ever to use. The software has curtain walling functionality that clients can use to design complex structures and it links up with all types of machinery to give fabricators total manufacturing precision. Furthermore, the same interface is used to process aluminium frames as PVC-U or indeed any material, making the software ideal for dual sourcing fabricators.”

One new feature on WD7 is the ability to batch windows and doors on separate properties as one complete job, useful for aluminium fabricators working on large scale commercial projects.

Alan said: “If a fabricator is manufacturing windows and doors to be fitted in several properties on a housing estate or a block of flats for example, WD7 allows you to batch all the separate houses as one complete project. You can then drill down into each separate property and view the individual components to get a more detailed view. This is a capability and will help commercial fabricators become even more efficient.”

WD7 is also increasingly being used by companies who dual source materials. The system contains Multiple Material Lists (MML), a module that enables any material or specialist product to be processed in the same contract.
