Capacity boost

Quickslide has installed a third Schirmer machining centre as part of the company’s ongoing strategy to boost capacity.

Installation of the Schirmer SU1 Frame and Mullion Cutting and Machining Centre will increase production output, as demand has been strong for its casement windows, on the way to a 60% plus increase in sales of this style in the current financial year.

The machine will automatically carry out all cutting, routing, slotting and notching processes on profiles according to data fed from Quickslide’s production and order management system. The Schirmer will ensure consistent quality and output and provide flexibility to cope with any variation in volume or product demands.

“We introduced the casement window range in the Renaissance suite to enable installers to give their customers the opportunity to install mixed types of frames in the same system for a consistent appearance throughout a property,” explained Quickslide director, Ben Weber. “Sales have been so successful – in May hitting 300 a week – that we have installed the Schirmer and made other investments to ensure that we can keep improving our standards of service and to ensure our capacity is never exceeded by demand. That is part of our commitment to our customers.”

The Quickslide casement window is fully sculptured, available with astragal bars and may be specified with an A rating, to match the appearance and performance of the vertical slider.
