Open day success

Over 40 tenants and members of the board of housing association Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd (CCG) attended the official launch of window and door specialist Nationwide’s Bangor manufacturing facility.

The opening, complete with ribbon cutting around the first residential door to come off the production line, marks the culmination of Nationwide’s £475,000 investment in the facility, established to service the manufacture and installation of windows and doors as CCG brings its 4,000 housing stock up to the WHQS.

Jonathan Reed, Nationwide’s contracts director who heads up the Welsh operation, said: “When we first started talking to CCG, we were always aware that in the spirit of true partnering and creating a lasting and sustainable legacy, establishing a local presence would be critical to successful delivery. That’s why we took the decision to invest in a manufacturing facility here in Bangor. The benefits for regional employment with the creation of 35 positions are obvious, and we wanted to celebrate these developments with an open day to give residents the chance for themselves to see the work we’re already doing on their behalf. With production now online, we look forward to delivering the home improvements while working closely with CCG to develop our local workforce and ensure communities in Gwynedd benefit from this significant development.”

Ffrancon Williams, CCG chief executive, said: “Nationwide Windows was one of the first contractors we appointed and has been with us from the beginning of our investment project. They have always been keen to work closely with us to ensure that the service to our customers is of the highest standard, and this is reflected in the positive feedback we have had from tenants on their work. Nationwide understands how we work and have embraced our policy of involving tenants in everything we do.”
