Sustainable representation

Nationwide, to promote sustainable solutions on behalf of the window and door industry, will be the official fenestration partner at Sustainable Communities 2011: Local Growth, Local Futures Conference and Exhibition in London on 2nd November.

This third annual national event will examine specific areas of Government policy including economic growth, social development and environmental responsibility that drive the development of the UK’s sustainable communities.

Nationwide’s commercial director Adrian Pavey said: “To date, Government policies have reflected the drive to rebuild and rebalance local economies with a focus on business and private sector growth. Two key areas specifically affect our industry.

“The Open Public Services White Paper that takes this concept of private-sector led growth to its ultimate conclusion – no public services that have to be delivered by local government– and secondly, the Energy Bill commitment to zero carbon emissions and slashing 27% of CO2 from existing homes.

“Our industry has a pivotal role to play in both these areas, and as a pioneer in sustainable and energy efficient fenestration solutions, we feel it is important to be present at this event.”

Facilitated by Krishnan Guru Murphy, the conference is already attracting key policy maker speakers, and delegates from across Government departments, agencies and other public sector organisations.
