Emergency service

Adams Rite, part of Assa Abloy Security Solutions, has supplied its Sentinel 6 security package to the new Sandyford Community Fire Station.

The Staffordshire-based community fire station, which was officially opened is a state-of-the-art facility that is crewed 24/7 by 28 firefighters. The station comes complete with community facilities that non-profit making organisations can use for free.

Working with a local aluminium systems fabricator, ADP, a total of six doors throughout the £4.5million fire station, were fitted with the specially developed mortice mechanical deadlock and complementary Europrofile cylinder and escutcheon.

The Sentinel 6 locking package has been used successfully in security doorset tests such as PAS24. This solution was ideal for a fire station subject to frequent traffic, as the products are engineered to meet the stringent BS EN 12209 lock standard test to Security Grade 6, providing increased performance longevity.

Russell Richards, regional sales manager for Adams Rite, said: “It is a great privilege to supply our Sentinel 6 locking package to such an important community facility. Plus, working on this joint PFI initiative has enabled us to expand our public sector portfolio, while meeting the security and safety considerations required by such a unique building.”

The Sentinel 6 deadlock operates with a 17mm Europrofile cylinder, and is available in three backset sizes – 25, 30 and 40mm.
