Start-up trade fabricator hits £1m in first year

Bristol-based start-up trade fabricator The Window Outlet has exceeded all expectations by passing £1million sales before its first year-end.

Ben Warren (pictured), Managing Director of the residential and commercial aluminium fabricator, said of the achievement: “The first year is always a challenge; finding premises, agreeing suppliers and recruiting staff. We knew we had to be marketing focused from the outset so we brought in Purplex, the window industry marketing experts. They developed our brand and marketing strategy while we focused on the business.”

The Window Outlet manufactures windows and doors, bi-fold and patio doors, conservatory roofs and commercial aluminium from a range of systems including ALuK, Kaye Building Systems, Reynaers and Atlas. Operating from an 8,000 sq ft factory, the company started with just three people but since grew to 14 staff.

Ben continued: “We spotted a niche in the market for a service-led, ‘get it right first time’ aluminium fabricator. We believe in working with the very best partners, and this includes marketing. The Purplex team know the industry and with 40 staff they have the resources to deploy quickly – they hit the ground running.”

Purplex designed the brand and corporate identity, developed a mobile friendly, responsive website and used a combination of traditional and digital marketing strategies to generate leads and build awareness.

We launched the website, direct-mailed a quality four-page trade newsletter and followed up with email campaigns and online marketing all within a matter of weeks. The results were instant, with a flood of sales leads, quotes and enquiries.”
