Town Hall gains awards for renovation
3rd March 2015
TuffX Processed Glass was contracted to supply a number of products from its leading, processed glass range for the renovation of Manchester Town Hall.
The project has received the regional award for Refurbished or Recycled Workplaces, 2014, from the British Council for Offices (BCO). Here the key challenge was to ensure that the new building was remodelled using 21st Century, eco-friendly design and construction principles.
Consequently, TuffX supplied polished and drilled, clear toughened laminate glass in a 21.5mm thickness, which was then incorporated into a staircase inside the historic building.
Thanks to products such as those from the TuffX range, the challenging renovation now preserves the historic Victorian architecture and unique appearance of the hall, whilst balancing the look of the grade 2 listed building against modern workplace functionality and environmental standards.
