Technical masterclass programme drives better housing specification
3rd March 2015

Housing specifiers and managers in Scotland have an exclusive opportunity to gain the latest technical insights into selecting the most effective products and systems to deliver homes with the optimum building fabric.

Cumbernauld based door, window and external envelope contractor CMS has launched its 2015 Technical Masterclass Programme in conjunction with several of the UK’s leading component and systems companies.

The programme of four short technical seminars is designed for anyone involved in the specification and procurement of external envelope elements as well as those with a responsibility for ongoing housing management and maintenance.

They will be held at the CMS Innovation Hub adjacent to the CMS HQ and manufacturing complex. The first takes place on Thursday 19th March, between 10am-12pm, with a seminar by Yale and Securistyle called ‘Avoiding the catastrophe of hardware failure’. This will guide specifiers through the complex mix of standards and regulations relating to window and door specification and design to ensure both duty of care and best value are exceeded. This seminar is also CPD accredited with points available for those participating.

Andy Kerr, Managing Director of CMS said: “Knowledge is power when it comes to making the right technical choices in housing design and specification. So we think it is vitally important to do everything we can to share the latest information and views from some of the best known names in the industry. Our Technical Masterclass Programme will do exactly this.

“We’re in a privileged position to be able to give specifiers and architects access to in depth technical knowledge thanks to our close working relationships throughout our supply chain. So with the Technical Masterclass Programme we will bring in experts from Sheerframe, Glassolutions Saint-Gobain, Yale with Securistyle and Rockwool.”

Places for the seminars are strictly limited, but anyone wishing to attend the first seminar on Thursday 19th March and/or future seminars can register their interest by emailing Alan Markham: alanm@cmswindows.com.
