GGF names ‘interim Chief Executive’
3rd July 2018
The GGF Group this week announced the appointment of Kevin Buckley as interim Chief Executive following the departure of former CEO Phil Pluck in April.
At the same time, the organisation confirmed the appointment of Mark Austin to the role of Vice President as reported in The Glazine four weeks ago Read Story
In announcing Kevin Buckley’s appointment, the organisation said many in the industry may be unaware of his involvement, but he has been working with the GGF Group for almost a year; initially as interim CEO of the subsidiary companies and more recently as a strategic consultant for the Group. Formerly, it adds, he worked with international companies such as technology and telecoms giant NEC and in various strategic and leadership roles with organisations such as Hertfordshire Local Authorities and university start-ups.
He said of his appointment: “I am aware of some negative comments made recently in the trade media and of course when people leave an organisation it is inevitable opinions will be formed. However I prefer to deal with the facts and the future. The facts being the GGF is the leading trade body in the sector, it has a highly skilled and very experienced professional staff. It also has a loyal and growing membership and is financially secure. My role in the immediate future will be to bring greater stability and to work closely with the GGF Board and other senior leaders to complete our transitional period and to build on our strengths for the benefit of our Members”.
Mark Austin said of his new role: “It is fairly well known that the GGF has had a lot of personnel changes over the last few years as it has been going through a restructuring and governance review. It now needs a period of stability, something I aim to be able to assist with. There are now several new Directors on the GGF Board, blessed with decades of experience in the Glazing Industry, so with them and the rest of the dedicated volunteer elected GGF Directors I hope we can steer the GGF ship into less choppy waters and revitalise what is at heart a superb organisation with over 40 years of history.”
