Halo launches lowest U-value window

The latest addition to the Halo System10 range – The Box – is said to achieve the lowest U-values and sound reduction of any PVC-U Window on the market today.
The Box’s U-value performance ranges from a ‘standard’ 0.66 W/m2K in a double-glazed window, through 0.42 W/ W/m2K from a triple-glazed item and down to an industry-leading 0.32 W/ W/m2K for a triple-glazed window employing krypton-filled units and foam filled sections.
Halo – part of the Veka Group - believes that this is significantly lower than any other PVC-U window currently on market.
Such a high-degree of energy efficiency is ideal for PassivHaus applications and those projects seeking to meet and beat level six of the Code for Sustainable Homes or striving for ‘carbon negative’ construction. It would also suit Retrofit for the Future (RFF) schemes where external cladding is present to complement the window’s depth.
Surprisingly, perhaps, The Box has been realised from ‘ordinary’ Halo components – such as gas-filled units and standard steel reinforcements – and is entirely compatible with the company’s popular System10 and Rustique systems.
The deployment of standard components and systems also ensures that the window is simplicity itself to manufacture and install. Fabricated from System10 sashes; minimal set-up is required as it can be cut and welded on conventional machines. It also uses standard hardware, but can also accommodate blinds and flyscreens in the same window if required.
The System10 Box Window is eminently versatile, being able to offer a combination or open-in, open-out casements – along with Tilt ‘n’ Turn windows. It is available in a wide range of coloured and woodgrain finishes; and suits itself to ‘mix and match’ colouring whereby internal and external tones may differ – such as grey or English Oak – for a striking contemporary effect.
