Safestyle UK trusts Consumer Credit Solutions for finance

Safestyle has always offered credit finance, but in the last few years the company has noticed a change in the market towards “soft sell”, interest free or low-interest finance. Consumer Credit Solutions (CCS) has been instrumental in helping Safestyle adapt to the change.

Mick Wilkinson, Operations Manager of Safestyle, explains: “Customers no longer want high interest rate products. Current demand is for low interest, interest free or ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ finance. We didn’t have experience of these new products but Andy Wallace, Managing Partner of CCS, was key in helping us embrace the new style. CCS helped us address the demand and has provided support and training to our sales branches. It’s the first time we’ve allowed an outside partner in to do training for us, but CCS understands our approach to credit finance, which is very much a soft sell. While it’s important that we are competitive and can provide funding for a big purchase we approach it very much on an advisory basis and let customers make their own decisions. We’re finding that even when customers have the money to pay for the job they will take up the credit finance option, and if it helps us sell we’re happy to provide it.”

Safestyle has been offering CCS products since 2010. The most popular is ‘Buy Now Pay Later’ with a 12 months interest free payment holiday. Interest bearing loans over 3 or 5 years are also popular and the 12 months interest free loan is an option too.

“CCS gives us excellent support, very ‘hands on’,” says Mick Wilkinson. “They have taken the time to get to know us and understand us so we are happy to work with them. It started as something of an experiment for us but our relationship with CCS has proved very successful.”
