Company Size Does Not Matter At
The G12 Awards
3rd July 2012

In case you thought your company was too small to enter the G12 Awards, or that your budget is too small to compete, listen to what John Melling, Managing Director of Conservatory specialist Charles Christianson has to say. Charles Christianson was a Finalist at the G11 Awards with their excellent entry for the Conservatory Installer of the Year Award and as John says, “Although we are a small company, we considered the quality of our designs and installations would stand well against our larger competitors.”

The company, which was only formed in 2008 by John Melling and Andrew Willett, has a mission to supply outstanding glazed structures to discerning clients nationwide. The Orangery has become their core business product with a level of specialisation which impressed the G11 Awards judges.

Since the company was born business has grown significantly year-on-year. John puts this down to “maintaining the highest standards in all aspects of business, state of the art brand development, cutting edge marketing and product excellence.” As a result word of mouth recommendations ensure that Charles Christianson has quickly become a leading conservatory company.

In light of their successes, the company entered the G11 Awards in order to, as John says, “show off a bit, but also to demonstrate our pride in what we do. We believe we are excellent at understanding our customers and delivering to their requirements, on time and on budget.”

The level of attention to detail from choosing suppliers, working with sustainable sources, launching a customer-friendly website, and delivering high quality installations amazed the judges. As a result Charles Christianson was one of last year’s G-Awards Finalists.

According to John, the accolade has given them independent kudos which they have been quick to capitalise on via their online and offline marketing, and boosts their credibility when speaking to new customers. As John concludes, “We might not be the biggest conservatory company in the UK but we focus on making sure what we do is done to the best of our ability. We demonstrate that size does not matter at the Awards – as long as you are the best at what you do. Being a Finalist has had a positive impact on our business, so I’m glad we took the time to enter.”
