The Oracle to Part L compliance
Build Check has launched The Oracle, a fast track solution to Part L compliance.
The Oracle is an on-line resource centre that will enable subscribers to calculate U-values for their windows and doors in practically all common frame materials.
Some argue that whole window U-values would be an accepted route to prove compliance to Part L has almost slipped by unnoticed.
The Oracle includes a vast library of technical information and specifications that can be used by fabricators, installers, systems companies or sealed unit manufacturers. They can calculate the U-value of their chosen frame and sealed unit combination and compare it to the target of 1.6W/m2K for windows and 1.8W/m2K for doors. PVC-U, timber or aluminium framed windows and doors are all included in the software, the results of which are recognised by Fensa, Certass and, in most cases, building control as proof of compliance.
Build Check is approved by the BFRC as an Independent Agency and has certified Simulators which mean they can provide thermal simulations, carry out product certification audits and implementations and guide companies through the processes required, as well as offering on-site weather performance analysis using their UKAS-accredited full size testing rig and a host of other services for fenestration and building industry clients.
Richard Bate, Build Check’s technical director said: “Our experience and in depth knowledge of the current and proposed regulations means we can provide everything fabricators, installers, systems companies and sealed unit manufacturers need to be ready for Part L. The Oracle is a natural extension of this and will be an essential reference tool for any company wishing to use the whole window U-value route to prove compliance.”
