Avocet has claimed that a consumer direct mail campaign promoting its ABS Snap Secure Cylinder in West Yorkshire has been a success.
The hardware supplier sent out leaflets showing the benefits of the high security cylinder to 74,000 domestic and commercial properties in the HD postcode area during a seven week period.
The campaign generated enquiries from home and business owners wanting more information or to find an installer who could fit the ABS Snap Secure Cylinder at their property. Some homeowners even went to Avocet’s head office to find out how the cylinder could make their property more secure.
Avocet targeted the area after the Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police, Sir Norman Bettison, said that hundreds of homes in Huddersfield were at risk because of a design weakness in a lock. He revealed that more than 300 homes in this area alone were being burgled a year by thieves smashing through euro-profile cylinder locks fitted on PVC-U doors.
Avocet’s ABS Snap Secure Cylinder is bump resistant, pick resistant and snap secure. It has Kitemark and Secured by Design (SBD) certification, and it is available keyed alike or master keyed so there’s no need for different keys for each door. It also comes with a suite of padlocks which can be keyed alike with the door locks.
Avocet’s managing director Kevin Harvey said: “We’ve been delighted with the response to the consumer campaign. It shows that security is important to homeowners.”
