Building Regs guide

Deceuninck has just published a clear guide to the amended Parts F and L of the Building Regulations for England and Wales, as well as Section 6 of the Scottish Building Standards, which come into force on October 1, 2010.

Mark Barsby, Deceuninck technical manager, said: “Many fabricators and installers were coming to us with questions about the new regulations. It was clear that there was a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding out there. We decided to produce a clear, brief guide to the new regulations to help our customers through this transition phase and reassure them that our 2500, 2800 and 3000 Series window systems are easily able to satisfy the new requirements.”

The guide breaks the new regulations down into easy to understand sections, highlighting the relevant points in each. It covers Part L and then goes on to explain how the requirements will work during the transition phase. There’s a brief section on Part F, which covers ventilation and finally, the guide explains changes to Section 6 of the Scottish requirements, which covers domestic and non-domestic energy.

Mark said: “Most legislation is incredibly detailed, for obvious reasons, but not everyone has the time to read through the guidance documents and get to grip with what effect they will have. Our guide covers all the relevant points in 10 pages and will give fabricators and installers the advice that they need to put their minds at rest.”

Deceuninck have decided to give open access to the new guide, which is available from www.deceuninck.co.uk. Once on the site, click onto Press Releases and enter your details to receive a free downloadable PDF file. Printed copies can also be obtained by contacting Carol Hearn at Deceuninck, Calne.
