APEER DOORS GO FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH WITH WORLD STRONGMAN!
2nd October 2012

One of the world’s strongest men has taken on Apeer Doors – and lost!

‘Big Daddy’ Glenn Ross – five times winner of the UK strongest man competition and three times winner of Britain’s strongest man – failed dismally when he went three rounds with the door set.

And just how the Northern Ireland international strongman and power lifter fared can be seen in a fun new video, rapidly going viral on the internet.

Said Apeer md Asa McGillian who came up with the idea of challenging Glenn to go in the ring with the all-composite Apeer 70 door: “We wanted a simple but effective way to visually demonstrate the strength of our doors. And the contest with Glenn works a treat!”

The two minute video shows how Glenn goes into the first and second rounds wearing his boxing gloves – and becomes increasingly frustrated with his inability to inflict a fatal blow to the door.

Taunted by ‘Who’s The Daddy Now?’ signs, Glenn – who in the past has lifted off the ground the rear wheels of three Citroen Saxos (with a combined weight of almost three tonnes), finally loses his cool. He enters round three with gloves off and carrying a 16lb demolition sledgehammer in a bid to smash the door to smithereens.

When even that inflicts only minimal damage, the Apeer Door is declared official winner of the contest.

Said Asa: “The video is designed to be a bit of fun but also makes the very real point about the strength and durability of the Apeer door. Glenn was terrific to work with and, during the course of a full day’s filming, spent a good deal of time quite literally giving the door some hammer.

“I think he was genuinely frustrated by how little damage he was able to cause – and impressed by how strong it was. He really met his match that day!”

Apeer 70 doors have now been officially recognised as ‘Energy A Rated’. The company has also expanded its standard colour offer and introduced a brand new, four-colour Premium range.
