CERTASS INCREASES ITS TRUSTMARK REGISTERED TRADES
2nd October 2012

Certass, a Competent Person Scheme for the glass and glazing industry, has significantly increased its TrustMark registered trades to over 2,400 for tradesmen working as glaziers and conservatory erectors. This major success has resulted from a major marketing and recruitment initiative carried out by Certass over the past few months.

Certass, became a TrustMark scheme operator eighteen months ago and requires that all of its member firms meet the TrustMark Government endorsed standards.  These standards provide increased protection for consumers because each firms’ technical skills have to be independently checked through regular on-site inspections, as well as checks on their trading record and financial status.

Barrie Smith-Wright, Managing Director for Certass, says: “We are delighted that Certass is now in a position to offer all of it’s registered firms the opportunity to become TrustMark licenced, which will generate more business from homeowners who care about quality.  We aim to meet the highest standards within the glazing industry and, by being TrustMark approved, we will be able to deliver a competitive advantage for our members and enable them to stand out from the crowd.”

Stuart Carter, Head of PR & Marketing at TrustMark, said: “We are now able to provide details of more than 21,000 licenced trades to consumers all over the UK and we have the largest database of locally accredited tradesmen in the country. TrustMark is here to protect consumers and signpost them to trustworthy and reputable firms and by being TrustMark registered tradesmen will be able to win better business and gain a competitive edge in the market as they offer extended warranty on their work that gives both the customer and themselves extra peace of mind.”

Established in 2006, Certass is a Competent Person Scheme in England and Wales, which enables companies that install replacement windows, doors and associated glazing products in the home to self certify compliance under the relevant UK Building Regulations.  It is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to raising standards in the glazing industry and is licenced by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
