AFFORDABLE’S SLIM TIMBER-LOOK
2nd October 2012

Affordable Window Systems have invested in a unique slim sash extruded by Kömmerling. 69mm in height, it has an ovolo feature to the shoulder of the sash and a bevelled dummy glazing bead on the external face.

Called the Timberlook window, this design gives the appearance of a deep putty line, to create a more authentic looking single glazed timber window, yet in double glazed PVCu. This sash is combined with Kömmerling’s O70 Gold outer frame and transom to create a fully ovolo finish to the inside. Because of the deeper putty line glazing design, the face of the window has been reduced by 40%. This narrow face width and asymmetrical feature is critical to making an equal sightline design which replicates a single glazed timber window.

This new window is ‘A’ rated as standard and is available in white, whitewood, cream, Chartwell Green, black, rosewood, light oak and Irish oak woodgrains. In addition the Timberlook window has been designed to accommodate an innovative concealed trickle ventilation solution, using a full width drip cover.

Eddie Gaughan, managing director of Affordable Window Systems comments: “We believe we have created a PVCu window that truly reflects the sightlines and appearance of timber. For our installers, this is an opportunity to open up new sales and generate better margins.”
