Wegoma adds Urban and a new name

Wegoma Machinery Sales has changed its name to AVANTEK MACHINERY LTD and also become an official Urban dealer and spares stockist.

The company says, with the backing of parent company of Quanex Building Products, it will be able to offer much reduced lead times and often immediate availability of machinery from stock.

Roger Hartshorn CEO of Flamstead Holdings, which owns Avantek and became part of Quanex last June, said: “We felt it was the ideal time for a change of name to reflect the growing diversity of the company.

“Now that we’re an official Urban dealer and stockist, as well as supplying various other quality brands, we needed a name to signify that. Avantek was chosen as it’s made up of the Italian word ‘avanti’, meaning ‘to move forward’, combined with the cutting edge technology used in our machinery range.

“We are obviously delighted to continue to supply Wegoma machinery, as well as our own high-end Supercut machining centres, but the new name and branding will help us move forward with other exciting plans during 2016 and beyond.”

In addition to the name change, the Avantek team is being strengthened with the appointment of Dave Phillips to Technical Director. Dave has been instrumental in the development of the Supercut machining centre and reports to Managing Director Dave Watts. Gary Mayer completes the senior management team as Sales Director and new roles are also planned in readiness for the Urban dealership.
