Solar Windows Sponsors Local Hero Award

For the third year in succession, commercial fabricator Solar Windows sponsored the Local Hero award at Wales & West Housing’s Making a Difference Awards.

The Caerphilly based company, which is Wales & West Housing’s PVC-U window and door replacement partner, once again gave its backing to the awards as part of its programme of community initiatives and tenant satisfaction programmes for the HA.

Mick Glendinning, a resident in Wales and West’s Ystad y Goffa Flint scheme, was the deserved recipient of this year’s Local Hero title in recognition of the positive impact he has had on his community through the running of a popular and successful foodbank initiative.

Robert Jenkins, Operations Manager for Solar Windows, said about the awards: “Our partnership with Wales and West Housing is about so much more than just windows and doors. Of course , we take immense pride in the quality of the products and service we provide but we are perhaps equally proud of how we support the efforts of Wales & West Housing to enrich the communities in which they work and the life opportunities of their residents.

“These awards celebrate courage, kindness, enterprise and community spirit amongst Wales and West Housing’s tenants and local communities and we are delighted to be a part of that.”

More than 200 people, including Wales and West Housing residents from across Wales, attended the Making a Difference Awards which were held at the Vale Resort Hotel in Cardiff recently.

Solar Windows has been a key supplier to Wales and West Housing since the two organisations were originally partnered together in 2002.
