Gary Morton presented with the Derek Bonnard Award for Excellence
2nd December 2014

Another fantastic night was had by all at the G14 Awards Presentation and Gala Dinner, as the glass and glazing industry united once again to celebrate all that is great and good within it. Winners of all categories stood out as shining examples of commitment, dedication and excellence including the winner of the Derek Bonnard Award for Excellence, Gary Morton.

“Gary has had an extensive and impressive career within the glass and glazing industry,” explains Joe Hague, Managing Director of the Promac Group, sponsors of the Derek Bonnard award. “In addition to this, Gary’s extraordinary leadership of the GM Fundraising team has resulted in them raising over £1 million for Hope House Children’s Hospices – an absolutely astonishing achievement. As early supporters of GM Fundraising, Promac continues to be amazed at the energy and enthusiasm he injects into fundraising for children with life-limiting illnesses. It seemed perfectly fitting that the judges chose to recognise Gary’s efforts with the Derek Bonnard Award this year.”

Explaining what it means to win the award, Gary Morton comments: “To be presented with the Derek Bonnard Award for Excellence is a tremendous honour. Derek was a friend, who I liked and thoroughly respected, which makes this even more special. To be recognised in this way for something that has given me so much joy over the years was a complete shock. I have a genuine passion and love of what we do at GM Fundraising and feel a huge amount of gratitude to everyone who has supported us over the years. There have been moments of hardship and heartache along the way, but it has mostly been a massive amount of fun. I feel proud of what the team has achieved over the years and hope that we can continue to raise funds for this immensely worthy cause long into the future.”

Managing Director of Bohle Ltd and longstanding GM Fundraising team member Dave Broxton, was there to present the award and remarked on the night: “The recipient of this year’s award is an individual who has proven himself as an entrepreneur and businessman. He has been involved in setting up businesses, running companies and fully immersing himself in all aspects of the glazing sector. But that is not the reason we are honouring him tonight. We are here to reward excellence of a different kind; of human kind. To reward someone who has worked tirelessly for the benefit of others, and to recognise the leadership and success of a man who had a dream of raising a thousand pounds for a children’s charity and ended up creating a fundraising legacy of well over a million pounds.”

Joe concludes: “Gary is a truly worthy winner of the Derek Bonnard Award for Excellence and the entire Promac team would like to congratulate him on his success.”
