Opening up a new world of door locks
1st July 2014

MACO UK reported a highly successful FiT Show 2014. With the introduction of their fully interactive AR augmented reality App, MACO were anticipating creating some excitement in the fenestration sector. They say they have been overwhelmed by the general enthusiasm and desire by fabricators and installers alike, with many fabricators already seeking to include the content as part of their websites and general marketing tools, to installers wishing to show the App in detail to the homeowner reinforcing why the European designed, engineered and manufactured door locks contribute to the quality and performance of the door.

The MACO App is available to download for both Apple and Android devices with Windows based tablets due for inclusion later this year. Downloadable content includes a 3D tour of the MACO C-TS combined lever door lock with the ability to explore it inside and out. Exploding the door lock to reveal the components not usually seen revealing why the MACO door locks range is among the smoothest and highest performing door locks within the UK market. There are also ‘hotspots’ throughout the App that explain what MACO do and why. Two additional videos within the App take the user through the features and benefits of the module top hat C-TS combined door lock; and the second take you on a virtual tour of MACO’s recently commissioned dedicated door lock manufacturing plant in Austria

Other popular interactive displays on the MACO stand included the MACO unique T.O.M Technical Online Manual, a full and complete look at the MACO product range by part code, each individual part in drawing with details such as dimensions, weight, box quantities, sizes etc. supporting all companies within the value chain with instant access to information regarding the structure and use of the MACO product range. Staying with our growing focus relating to our service element, using part of the extranet service MACO also announced their new online registration form for MACO Secure Plus. By registering for an extranet account, installers will be able to quickly register home installations, with homeowners receiving their documents almost instantaneously. New products displayed included flood and fire door solutions. Visitors commented on the smoothness and ease of operation despite, for example, the flood door having no less than 16 perimeter locking points operating from one handle!

The fully concealed French casement Multi Matic window with auto opening fanlight that operates effortlessly from one handle situated lower down on the sash provided a wow, with many commercial fabricators seeing it going hand in hand with the MACO Z-TA automatic opening door locks for less abled access and lifetime homes requirements.

The prototype MACO Varia door also attracted a lot of interest with many enquiries for this product taken at the show, the Colonial style door has the added advantages that all locking points are engaged on closing the door without having to wind the key first.

MACO’s Residence 9 display caused a quite a stir with its Z-TA automatic opening door lock with comfort pack showing fingerprint and code options. The specifically designed Z-TA door lock for Residence 9 also includes bespoke rounded end striker plates stamped with the R9 logo. Next to it was a double side hung casement window with MACO M-SPAG telescopic shootbolt espagnolette, again with bespoke rounded end R9 logo striker plates.
