Weekly Email News for the Glass, Glazing & Fenestration Industries

From: Mike Davis,

Aluminium is going from strength to strength. The number of installers offering aluminium products has grown by 41% over the past five years.

And it’s not just popular in commercial projects. Demand for aluminium windows and doors in the domestic market has rocketed as more homeowners become aware of the benefits of aluminium such as slim sightlines, high performance and a wide range of colour finishes.

The industry has worked well in dispelling common myths surrounding aluminium too such as it is always cold and poor insulator. In fact, aluminium is now considered superior or at least equal to PVCu in terms of energy efficiency.

Aluminium’s rising popularity means our customers are taking on more high-end projects such as installations in restaurants and blocks of flats.

We have identified bi-fold and patio doors as hot products, spurred on in part by aspirational home improvement shows such as Grand Designs that feature wide-span doors with a focus on aesthetics. This year we introduced Reynaers Aluminium lift and slide patio doors, which have proved a huge hit with installers and homeowners alike.

However, as more installers turn to aluminium it’s important they choose a supplier who can offer the expertise and support they need.

Lots of companies were quick to begin manufacturing aluminium but lack the knowledge and skills to meet customer expectations. Choosing an experienced fabricator means installers can focus on making the most of the opportunities aluminium offers without the worry of problems such as poor quality and slow lead times later down the line.
