New Spectus Finance Director charts safe course through stormy market

Spectus has promoted Amber Owens as its new Finance Director. Amber has worked at the leading systems company for four years, and was previously Head of Finance. She is responsible for accounts and credit control for Spectus, Latium Plastics Holding and Latium Logistics and her role also involves HR and IT.

Growing securely in a volatile and uncertain market and being able to take advantage of opportunities requires good financial management and closer attention than in gentler, more stable markets. Amber works closely with Spectus' Managing Director Sam Kennedy "to focus on the company's long term stability and growth in a period of great uncertainty." She adds: "We have addressed our cost base so we can operate safely in a smaller, stormier market. We'll continue to focus on costs and working capital so we’re as efficient as possible."

“I’m delighted to welcome Amber to the board,” says Sam Kennedy. “With the troubles in the economy and overcapacity at almost every level in the industry, one or two systems companies are likely to merge or exit this year. Fabricators who get caught with the wrong system company will suffer badly. Those who plan to survive need to start talking to suppliers who will also be around. Spectus aims to be one of the long term suppliers, and Amber is one of a dedicated team helping us do this.”

Amber was recently awarded Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Fellowship.
