Regency Glass Ltd, Lancashire, Pass BS EN1279 part 3 – Several times!!

Regency Glass Ltd, one of the largest sealed unit manufacturers in Northwest England have passed the BSI test for gas filled units – BS EN1279 part3, (Argon) several times. Steve Massey, Sales and Marketing Manager, comments “We originally passed EN 1279 part 3 using aluminium spacer bar in 2007 and quickly added Thermix TXN warm edge spacer bar. In 2008 we submitted for part 3 again, using Swiss Spacer V warm edge spacer bar and successfully passed this difficult test once more. This now gives us flexibility when designing sealed units for the BFRC window energy rating scheme (WER), giving all the right results at the right cost levels.”

Steve goes on to explain that many window manufacturers/retailers appear to be unaware that if their sealed unit supplier offers gas filled sealed units without having a correct EN 1279 part 3 pass certificate, then their products wont qualify for the BFRC scheme and are illegal under CPD rules. This not only means they are being misled by their suppliers but that they are in turn misleading their customers and the home owner is left with a product that costs them more, and loses as much energy as unrated windows.

Steve adds “We don’t merely quote part 5 to demonstrate compliance, we are proud of our Part 3 pass certificate and our customers can ask us to forward a copy for their records on request.”

“A growing number of our customers are selling official ‘A’ ‘B’ and ‘C’ rated windows in the safe knowledge that they meet both the technical and legal requirements.”
