G-21 organisers are to trial virtual site visits in some award categories in response to pleas from some candidates facing this year’s exceptional circumstances.

“Almost everyone is trying to juggle supply and staffing issues at the same time as upholding all remaining pandemic safety measures,” said organiser Tony Higgin, “They are all so deeply committed to giving their best to these awards so the last thing we would want to do is make the judging an added burden.

“The most important thing is that our judging process is carried out completely independently by experts in their respective fields and the virtual visits will not compromise those principles in any way.

The deadline for entries had been extended by an additional three weeks this year to make similar allowances for candidates. Judging will soon begin in the annual event, which will conclude with the gala dinner and awards evening at the London Hilton Park Lane on Friday, November 26.
