A call has gone out for mentors to help and support young people coming into fenestration and to encourage others to join.

The Building Our Skills body is aiming to set up a mentoring group of people willing to share their knowledge and experience to help newcomers to develop their skills in the industry.

It is launching the appeal with a zoom meeting on Thursday (June 10) with Martin Salder of GQA Qualifications, who is experienced in coaching mentors and will guide candidates through what is needed to help and support others.

Stephanie Tague, head of Building Our Skills, said: “We are looking for anyone who would like to give something back to the industry they love.

“We are looking to create and build an industry mentoring group to support young people already in the industry and encourage those who are thinking of joining, and anyone’s knowledge and input would be extremely valuable.”
