Roto is making its window handles available with its new anti-viral technology (AVT) coating, said to reduce the risk of pathogens including Covid-19 and influenza being transferred by touch.

Roto AV is based on coatings already in use for coating hospital bed frames and other medical equipment, works with active ingredients that deactivate virus particles as well as preventing them from attaching to the surface

The coating is described as being, “transparent, thin-layered and barely perceptible to the touch”. It is also UV-resistant and has a hard, pore-free surface.

Certified tests have proven the Roto AVT surface remains effective, even on handles that are used frequently, says the company, which is making test documentation available to customers who purchase handles with the coating.

Chris Cauwenberghs, head of market requirements and product range marketing for Roto Western Europe, said: “This is another step forward in surfaces from Roto, and of course a very timely one. Similar technology is already used in hospitals for coating bed frames and other medical equipment, so Roto AVT coating is suitable for windows in environments with strict hygiene requirements. This obviously includes all medical settings and is also worth considering for care homes, schools, offices, hotels – anywhere that windows are operated by many different people.”www.roto-frank.com/gb
